“Standing on the shoulders of the giants” and logo psychology of tech companies
Companies rely on each other. One company gives products and services, the other company takes those services. This second company in turn gives products and services, which some other company takes and uses. After searching, you may find that the large companies stand on the shoulders of the other big or small companies.
ARM Holdings Plc. is a Cambridge, England, based semiconductor and software-design company. ARM provides services to a number of different major technological companies including Intel, Samsung, ZTE, AMD, Apple, Qualcomm, Fujitsu and Lenovo.
HP and Dell, PC manufacturers, are among the customers of Intel among other customers. In fact, HP became the biggest customer in 2008.
Apple Inc. uses many of the Samsung components in its devices. In 2011, order by Apple Inc. to Samsung was $7.8 billion and it is estimated that it will reach upto $11 billion by the end of this year.
“The amount of the current contract is around $9.7 billion” a Samsung executive told The Korea Times , but “is expected to rise to $11 billion by the end of this year as Apple is planning to release a smaller iPad, probably with a 7.85-inch screen, and to sell more of its MacBook Air PCs using Samsung’s faster solid state drive storage.”
Samsung provides mobile processors, NAND flash memory, displays and other such devices.
Applied Materiels is a device tools manufacturing company, which started manufacturing tools about 45 years ago, provides components to Intel, Apple, Samsung and IBM.
“For the iPad, 67% of the bill of materials comes from our tools,” Applied Materials’ Matt Ceniceros explained. “So you’re the end user. You bought the tablet from Apple. Apple bought it from a web of manufacturers and gets Foxconn to assemble it. Foxconn would buy the chips from our customer. And our customer buys the tools from us.”
You may check the logos of the tech companies here.
They are mostly blue in color that may show the beautiful color representation by the sky. Few companies use black color and a very small number of companies use any other color.
Many of the companies use their names in the logo. Many companies use almost the same size of fonts, which could be capital words or small words. Intel and Lenovo logos are same in the concept that both are written in small words.
Very few companies use only design and a slightly more companies use a design along with their name. Interestingly, the logo of Samsung and Intel are almost similar in pattern i.e. an oval shaped tilted circle. HP design also contains a circle but not tilted. In all these companies, the name is written in the center with two openings. This shows that one company may take inspiration from any other company.
