“Tree Planet” is one of the most real life “Green” apps on iTunes by Korea. The aim of this app is to protect the world from deforestation. The money collected by this app is used to grow real world trees.
This app works in this way: Users play games with challenges to grow a virtual tree. They start from digging a hole in the ground, put in the seeds in the holes, pat the trees, protect it from loggers and sheep and take care of the trees through water and fertilizer. With the growth of the virtual tree in the app, a team of real people plant a tree in the desert. They will also send notifications and updates through email about the trees to the user.
[hana-code-insert name=’StumbleUpon’ /][hana-code-insert name=’Reddit’ /]The team has already planted 30,000 trees in Indonesia, Africa, Mongolia, and South Korea. The team has planned to expand the services in six continents.
Not only trees but the team also works in other ways to help the world such as they deliver water pumps to African children suffering from water shortages.
The team is working in collaboration with United Nation Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and Unicef, World Vision, and certain other sponsors like Hanwha, ING to fund the trees and costs of planting.
You can download the app from the iTunes app store for free. You can check the sponsors and the ranking of users on the website.
