Lamborghini has introduced the first sport-utility vehicle (SUV) in two decades to meet the demands of emerging markets.

[hana-code-insert name=’StumbleUpon’ /][hana-code-insert name=’Reddit’ /]An auto show has been organized in Beijing, China, this week and the company has introduced the car, called as Urus, in Beijing yesterday. Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann said at a company presentation that Lamborghini is expecting the sales of 3000 vehicles per annum for the SUV.

“If you’re going to enter a new segment, you have to remain true to your core values,” said Winkelmann. “Our core values are uncompromising, extreme and Italian.”

There are two models of the current line-up of Lamborghini. V-12 powered Aventador, available at prices starting from $375,000 and the V-10 powered Gallardo starting from $180,000

Acording to IHS automotive, demand for luxury SUVs would increase 49% in China to 265,200 vehicles in 2015, almost three times the 18 percent growth in global sales for those vehicles.

“The SUV market is one of the fastest growing segments in China,” said Namrita Chow, an analyst with IHS Automotive based in Shanghai. “Everybody is pushing the SUV segment and therefore you have the likes of Maserati and Lamborghini bringing in models in the segment.”

“Even outside the U.S., the segment is growing,” Winkelmann said.
