Prime Minister of China, during his last visit to Pakistan, offered Bright Light Program under which Cataract Patients’ Operation will be done by Chinese Opthalmologists.
[hana-code-insert name=’StumbleUpon’ /][hana-code-insert name=’Reddit’ /]In this program, a team of seven members of eye surgeons, nurses and technicians will perform cataract surgeries upon needy patients and will also insert lenses in patients to restore the vision to as much good as possible at Civil Hospital, Karachi from April 23 to 27.
There will also be donation of Interocular Lens Implants (IOL), required logistical support and professional assistance by relevant medical professionals from China.
Dr. Mohammad Munir Qureishi, facilitator for the program at ophthalmology department, Civil Hospital, told APP Tuesday that all of the government hospitals in Karachi have been asked to refer their patients in need of cataract surgery, so that maximum number of people would get advantage of the program.
Dr. Shakil Mullick, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Civil Hospital, Karachi, further said that the Chinese team of ophthalmologists has already arrived in the country and would operate 250 patients at Mayo Hospital, Lahore from April 18 to 21.
