[hana-code-insert name=’StumbleUpon’ /][hana-code-insert name=’Reddit’ /]She (PhD student namely Mehwish Hameed) reported to Higher Education Commission (HEC) that the supervisor has published the research with her own name to win over Rs. 0.7 million allowance granted by Pakistan Scientific Research Council (PSRC). She further alleged that her supervisor is continuously creating hurdles for her.
She contacted the officials in Sindh (Province in Pakistan where Karachi is located), which directed the Vice Chancellor of the University to, “move a case to Governor Sindh, the varsity’s chancellor, initiating action against the accused for committing gross misconduct.” The officials further directed the university authorities that the student must not be harassed or victimized during her studies.
The student has filed a case at Sindh High Court (SHC) to get her degree but she is fighting herself as she said she is a poor student and cannot afford the fees of the lawyers.
She further said: “I have applied for the post of lecturer offered by the HEC and got selected but the commission has been demanding the degree due to which I am not being appointed.
“I have submitted an application with the Executive Director Higher Education Commission, Dr Sohail Naqvi requesting him to take notice of the issue and ensure justice in my case but so far no one has contacted me.”
