Dow is also referred to as Dow Jones Industrial average, Dow Jones, Industrial average or Dow 30. It is a stock market index created by Wall Street Journal editor and Charles Dow, Co-founder of Dow Jones & Company. It is now owned by CME Group.

Dow plunges by over 500 points as recession fears on August 04, 2011. It lowers throughout the session. It was considered as the largest single day point loss since December 1, 2008, when the Dow plunged 679.95 points. It was the Dow Jones ninth steepest decline.

Investors are constantly hit by political and economical confusion these days and a slowing of recovery has been pointed by a chain of data.

In US, all of the Dow stocks were lowered and all of S & P 500 sectors were in the red except 3 components. Gold and Silver which were up in the start of the day also reversed the course. Kraft Foods Inc. was the only gainer in Dow’s index but at last fell by 52 %.

This whole condition made the mood on the floor of New York Stock Exchange, sad and tense and the bank shows the large amount of dollar deposits.

U.S. stocks show surge on Friday Afternoon August 05, 2011. The Dow Jones Industrial Average surges by 91 points or 0.8 %.
