Ocular impairment could be associated with blurred vision, altered color vision, and blindness. Blurred vision could be caused by

(1) Toxicity of vitamin E
(2) Symptom of botulism (i.e., food poisoning caused by ingestion of botulin, which is a potent bacterial toxin)
(3) Adverse effect of anticholinergic medications.

In case of ocular impairment, nurses may consider careful monitoring of vision, monitoring exposure to light, and monitoring lighting. Good lighting could be provided with the help of accessible switches.
