Remember ALLAHRemembering things for a long time is one of the problematic issues faced by many people in the world. In Qur’an Majeed, I have found that Shaitaan (Satan) is involved in forgetting many important things.

I have found two places in Qur’an, where Shaitaan is said to be the cause of forgetting something. One ayat shows a case from the life of Hazrat Musa (A.S.) and is mentioned in the following Ayah.

He said, “Did you see when we retired to the rock? Indeed, I forgot [there] the fish. And none made me forget it except Satan – that I should mention it. And it took its course into the sea amazingly”. (Qur’an Majeed, Surat Al-Kahf (The Cave), Surat # 18, Ayat # 63)

Second ayat shows the case from the life of Hazrat Yusuf (A.S.) and is mentioned in the following Ayah.

And he said to the one whom he knew would go free, “Mention me before your master.” But Satan made him forget the mention [to] his master, and Yusuf remained in prison several years. (Qur’an Majeed, Surat Yūsuf (Joseph), Surat # 12, Ayat # 42)

So, remember ALLAH, this will keep Shaitaan away from you and Insha ALLAH, you will remember things for a long time. You can do this by saying Ta`awwudh as A`ūdhu billāhi min ash-shaitāni r-rajīmi.

Auzubillah

ALLAH has mentioned in Qur’an Majeed,

And say, “My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils, And I seek refuge in You, my Lord , lest they be present with me.” (Qur’an Majeed, Surat Al-Mu’minūn (The Believers), Surat # 23, Ayat # 97-98)

And be not like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient. (Qur’an Majeed, Surat Al-Ĥashr (The Exile), Surat # 59, Ayat # 19)
