Nvidia has revealed the next-generation Tegra 4 processor for mobile devices at a press event at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
This has quad core Cortex-A15 processors with a fifth, low power, core to save battery life when the device is not in use. 72 GeForce GPU cores boost graphics performance over Tegra 3. The chip also has 4G LTE modem of Nvidia’s design.
This processor is built on all-new architecture.
According to the company’s CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, Tegra 4 is the fastest mobile processor yet built. It can load webpages fast as for comparison Tegra-4 based tablet could load a webpage in 27 seconds while the Google 10 Nexus tablet with Samsung 5250 chip loads in 50 seconds.
“Tegra 4 is the fastest application processor in the world today,” Huang said.
The chip also enables cool photo processing such as high-dynamic range (HDR) to show better pictures.
