Angry Birds app has been launched on Facebook

Angry BirdsAngry Birds was planned to be on Facebook at February 14 i.e. Valentine’s Day, but Rovio has launched the app a day earlier.

“With the great success of the Angry Birds game on smartphone platforms, Rovio intends to reach more fans and be on every screen and every platform,” Rovio Asia senior vice president Henri Holm said in a statement.

“Therefore, the company developed Angry Birds on Facebook to reach more than 800 million Facebook users worldwide.”

The game on Facebook has four different types of “power-ups” i.e. Sling Scope, King Sling, Super Seeds and Birdquake, which users can use to add thrill to the game. Power-ups may be bought at $1 for 20 uses.

“There are four different types of power-ups and they can be accessed via the lightning bolt button at the top of the screen,” the company said. “You can use two power-ups per level. All power-ups have a different effect but ultimately make you more competitive against your friends by making your birds stronger or more accurate or even by shaking the earth itself!”

Facebook with Angry Birds has integrated Adobe systems’ Flash Player 11 with support for 3D graphics offering “enhanced special effects like lighting, smoke and explosions running smoothly at 60 frames per second,” Adobe said in a statement.

“This launch is just the beginning for Angry Birds on Facebook,” said Petri Järvilehto, SVP of Game Publishing at Rovio. “We have great new features and gameplay lined up for the fans in the upcoming weeks. Angry Birds on Facebook will offer a unique experience for our fans, and we’re really excited to finally be on the platform.”
