In a study published by researchers from Pennsylvania State University and NASA, several possible situations have been presented so that we must be ready for any situation in case of contact with the aliens.
The situations were introduced jointly by Seth D. Baum (Department of Geography, Pennsylvania State University) , Jacob Haqq-Misra (Department of Meteorology, Pennsylvania State University) and Shawn D. Domagal-Goldman (NASA Planetary Science Division).
In this study, researchers have divided the contact with aliens into three categories:
1. Beneficial: This category places the contact with aliens into co-operation with them. Aliens may co-operate with humanity and help them in progressing the knowledge. Moreover, they may help in removing poverty, disease and hunger.
2. Neutral: Another scenario presented by the researchers is that the aliens may exist in some other form and reality completely different from us and therefore they may not be either beneficial or harmful.
3. Harmful: Third most unwanted scenario, presented by the researchers, is that the aliens may cause harm to humanity. They may attack us either voluntarily or unvoluntarily. They may enslave or eat humanity.
One of the possibility is that aliens may destroy the humanity because humans are treating the earth so badly and in long terms may pose a difficult and dangerous situation to the lives of them.
After considering all of these aspects, scientists have warned to contact with aliens in order to tell them about the biological make up of humanity. They have told to limit the contact mathematically “until we have a better idea of the type of ETI we are dealing with.”
