What an infant may think?

There was an interesting article, researched by a team of “Massachusetts Institute of Technology”, published in the journal of “Science” with the title of “How to Grow a Mind: Statistics, Structure, and Abstraction“.

This article highlights that babies can perform sophisticated analyses of how the physical world should behave. It was previously known that babies only a few months old  knows about the physical rules of the world. But this team found that babies, of different months from 3-12 months of age, can have a knowledge about the changing situations of the world and reason or behave in a similar way.

The researchers found that the infants’ level of surprise can be measured by how long they will stare at something.

Most interestingly, the team of “Saypeople” have found interesting research ideas in this respect of “what a baby may think?”.

Hadith (Saying) of Hazrat Muhammad (S. A. W.) is as follows:

“Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The mother of every person gives him birth according to his true nature. It is subsequently his parents who make him a Jew or a Christian or a Magian. Had his parents been Muslim he would have also remained a Muslim. Every person to whom his mother gives birth (has two aspects of his life) ; when his mother gives birth Satan strikes him but it was not the case with Mary and her son (Jesus Christ).”
(Sahih Muslim, Book: 33, The Book of Destiny (Kitab-ul-Qadr), Hadith: 6429)

This Hadith is the most clear depiction of what an infant may think. As the infant is born on nature and Islam is “Deen-al-Fitrah” (Religion of nature), so he must think that ALLAH is One and there is no god except ALLAH and other similar aspects of true Islamic Beliefs. (ALLAH knows better).

An example of infant’s talking is present in the life of Hazrat ‘Isa (A. S.) (Jesus). ALLAH has mentioned in Holy Quran:

“She brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, ‘Maryam! You have done an unthinkable thing! Sister of Harun, your father was not an evil man nor was your mother an unchaste woman!’ She pointed towards him. They said, ‘How can a baby in the cradle speak?’ He said, ‘I am the servant of Allah, He has given me the Book and made me a Prophet. He has made me blessed wherever I am and directed me to perform prayer and give the alms as long as I live, and to show devotion to my mother. He has not made me insolent or arrogant. Peace be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die and the day I am raised up again alive.’ That is ‘Isa, son of Maryam, the word of truth about which they are in doubt. It is not fitting for Allah to have a son. Glory be to Him! When He decides on something, He just says to it, ‘Be!’ and it is.”

(Holy Quran, Surah # 19, Surah Maryam (Mary): Ayah # 27-35)

It is clear from this Ayah that the first words of Hazrat Isa (A. S.) (Jesus) was that he is the servant of ALLAH (not the son). Remember ALLAH knows better.
